Dropcards at Book Expo America - New York City
Our Mission: Book Expo America. 1200 book publishers, 1 lone Dropcards attendee, and one day to do it all in.
If you are not sure what BEA is, it’s basically the Bonnaroo of reading events.
As Ozzy Osbourne screams “Let the Madness Begin….”
Our first impression? Massive…Huge…Enormous…
How about a lot of FUN!
We first visited our friends at the Penguin Book Group. Dropcards has been fortunate to work with Penguin for a few of their book projects. Be sure to check out their Breathless Reads selection. Here’s a custom site we recently did for them www.dropcards.com/breathlessreads
Next, here’s our VP of Business Development hanging out with our friend Ruta Sepetys. Ruta is a New York Times Best Selling Author published on Penguin. She was signing advanced copies of her new book. She used Dropcards to help promote her first book, and has been a good friend of ours ever since. Best of luck with your new book Ruta!
We also learned people cutting the line to meet Ruta were given the nose in the book penalty by security. Here’s a picture of Yosemite Sam giving said Nose in the book penalty.
We stopped off and chatted with Hatchette Books next.
They were stoked about the cards we did for their new audio book “ParaNorman”
Here’s a peek at what the cards look like -
Simon and Schuster, Wiley, MacMillan, Abrams, they were all there… But instead of sharing pics of their booths, we thought it would be more fun to spot some of the celebs floating around at the Book Expo.
Clifford the Big Red Dog.
Scott Stapp from Creed.
He couldn’t greet us with Arms Wide Open, as his arms were filled with Target bags, turns out he likes shopping for bargains. What If!
By the end of the day, we barely covered the entire show, said hello and introduced the book world to the new kids on the block in the book world.
So next year, we’ll be back, just with a better camera phone!
For book publishers and authors, Dropcards is a great way to promote your sample chapter or even an audio book. Give book fans something they want: digital access to your book media. Hand them out at BEA or book signings or give them away in fun promotions. Visit our Custom Projects page to see the unique and effective ways other book companies have used Dropcards.
